The public relations association of Uganda has started celebrations to mark 50 years since it was established with the PRAU Run that took place along lugogo by pass and kololo.
Established on 22nd May 2026 marks 50 years since the founding of an association that has shaped Uganda's public relations proffession with decades of leadership, service, mentorship and contribution to the growth of Public relations in Uganda and beyond.
The public relations association of Uganda 50th anniversary celebrations is not only a celebration of the rich history but the affirmation of the shared commitment to excellence, integrity, innovation and the continued advancement of the public relations proffession.
"We pay special tribute to all the pioneers, members and leaders who have carried the PRAU vision forward over the years, in a very special way, we salute our past presidents and governing councils whose stewardship, sacrifice and commitment have shaped the association into the respected proffessional body it is today,” said Irene Nakasiita the President of public relations association of Uganda.
As the association started it's series of activities to mark the 50 years of existence, members of the association, partners and sponsors turned up on Friday evening to run under the theme "Run for PRAU home" with the ambition to raise sh 800 million for a fully fledged association offices and permanent home that will shape the future of the profession.
PRAU members are also positioned to contribute to national development through raising awareness about social issues, educating the masses and supporting community initiatives.
PRAU professionals play a key role in aligning public messages with national goals and their expertize is vital in promoting corporate social responsibility and giving a voice to underrepresented communities.
Public relations association of Uganda is an umbrella body of all private and public relations professionals, communication specialists, brand managers, mass communication and other related disciplines striving to promote public relations excellence in Uganda.
The association is affiliated to other regional and global public relations bodies such as the East African public relations association, Africa Public relations association and the international public relations association.
