The ministry of Works and Transport has issued a traffic advisory on Masaka- Kampala highway over Katonga works to all motorists and general public due to the commencement of asphalt - laying works on the new bridge for three days.
The ministry advised the general public to exercise patience and cooperation as the contractor works on traffic flow along this critical highway.
" Plan your journeys accordingly, approach the work zone with caution and follow guidance from the traffic police and flagmen to avoid dangerously overtaking and lane indiscipline which worsen congestion and compromise safety, said Waiswa Bageya the permanent secretary of Ministry of Works and Transport.
The ministry has guilded that to facilitate safeworks, traffic will be managed under a half width carriageway arrangement, resulting in reduced road space and possible traffic delays at the work section and the contractor has been instructed to ensure proper traffic control measures throughout the works period and motorists should consider using mpigi-Kanoni- Gomba- Ssembabule road as an alternative route.
These regional intervations demonstrate ministry of Works commitment to equitable infrastructure ensuring that the hard to reach areas in the country and geographically disadvantaged communities are not left behind.
