Inspections will focus on critical systems, braking, tyres, lighting and mechanical integrity to reduce accidents and non compliant buses face being banned from operation.
The key inspection areas and safety checks are;
- Documentation; vehicles must display valid inspection certificates on the windscreen
- Mechanical and safety components; inspectors will verify braking systems, tyres, lights and steering components
- Interior safety: Inspection of seat, security seatbelts and for vehicles carrying children, functioning child safety and alarm systems.
- Exterior/ Engines: Checking for fluid leaks, engine security and suspension including air bags and shocks.
- Emergency; mandatory check of fire extinguishers, exit windows, emergency exits and roof hatches.
Regulations may require annual or semi annual inspections depending on passenger capacity and drivers should perform pre- start inspection and other daily checks to avoid penalties.
